Send Back The (Eurogroup) Clowns
Latest from the Lucey/Coppola double act, with apologies to Stephen Sondheim.
The Germans give nicht;
Grexit looms quick.
Drachmas at last on the ground.
The Euro will tear!
Send back the clowns.....
The union's adrift -
an Ordoliberal split:
Podemos is gaining ground.
But the centre won't move.
Why are there clowns?
Send back the clowns!
Let them stuff T-bills
In banks,
Extend a loan, defer, then they're yours.
Another long meeting again, and wit is quite spare.
Few there are kind....
Sense is not there.
Don't you love farce?
Whose fault? It's clear:
We all colluded and winked,
Now Greeks they pay dear.
The Eurogroup clowns,
Oh, those scary clowns,
Oh bother - they're here.
The centre is rich,
Periphery blitzed,
It isn't a union, you know.
Common currency, it's clear
Designed by clowns
And run now by clowns
Well shielded, it's clear.
The Germans give nicht;
Grexit looms quick.
Drachmas at last on the ground.

You should translate it into German and send it to Sigmar Gabriel. I would say Merkel or Schäuble, but they probably wouldn't bother to listen.

ReplyDeleteThis is one class act. We saw the National production of A Little Night Music with Judy Dench in March 1996 and were there for her rendering at the BBC Proms. OK, you did not have an orchestra but I did enjoy it. And right on the button.
ReplyDeletePlease, please can we have a spoof version of the Three Degrees song “When will I see you again?”, but altered so as to refer to the long time we’re having to wait for normal interest rates to return? I’ve set out the lyrics below with a few lines altered so as to refer to interest rates (which don’t scan properly). I’m sure someone else can do better.
ReplyDeleteWhen will I see normal interest rates again?
When will we share precious moments?
Will I have to wait forever?
Or will I have to suffer and cry the whole night through?
When will I see positive base rates again?
When will our hearts beat together?
Are we in love or just friends?
Is this my beginning or is this the end?
When will I see you again?
(When will I see you again?)
When will I see you again?
Are we in love or just friends?
Is this my beginning or is this the end?
When will I see normal base rates?
(When will I see you again?)
When will I see you again?
(When will I see you again?)
When will I see you again?
(When will I see you again?)
When will I see you again?
great..
